Shirt dresses are such a fun way of being dressed up without being uncomfortable. Pair it with no collar and v-neck casual look and you can go from meeting room to dinner date without much change. So when Tami from Love Notions announced testing for the Lyric Dress, I was in! Without ANY regard to what else I had going on. 🤭
The Lyric Dress is on sale now until next Thursday. Grab your copy just in time for spring and summer makes.
As I attempted to to take pictures, my 3 year old was moping around because she was not in the pictures. Goofy poses were my way of cheering her up. You gotta do what you gotta do.

DETAILS
The Lyric has a slew of options for you to customized the way you want it. The dress bodice hits at natural waist and has two skirt options – flared or gathered. It can be made as a dress or a peplum top; with two dress lengths. Options of slash or patch pockets are a great addition. Not to mention the sleeve selection – sleeveless, flutter, bell, or bishop.

FABRIC
I made mine out of a rayon crepe fabric from Joann Fabric. I bought 3.5 yds but have a lot leftover. I wish I had starched the fabric before cutting because it stretched out A LOT!!
Even though I love the floral look, I now realize that I’m not an all over floral person. Live and learn 🤷🏻♀️ Adding the lilac ribbon to the sleeves and waist helped add some interest to the fabric, as well as help define my waist a bit more.

I debated between navy and purple buttons. Purple won out to bring out the purple flowers a bit more.

SIZE
Usually, I have to blend sizes, starting at one size at the bust, then blending one to two sizes up at the hip. But I learned, the hard way I might add, it is NOT necessary with this pattern. It has a good amount of ease, and I could sew a straight size 12.

MODIFICATIONS
I did my usual, remove length from the blouse. At first I shortened it by 1.75″ but still felt like it was too long. So I shortened another 1.5″. I had to move my bust dart down by 0.5″.

OVERALL
I really like the dress. I want to make it in a chiffon and maybe a maxi length next. Make sure you get yours before the sale ends!

Here’s my 3 year old finally seeing some camera action!
