Pattern for Pirates just released these unisex PJs which includes both youth and adult sizes from 3M to 3X. These PJs are very easy and fast to sew up. Did I mention it is FREE!

They had an Top Tester competition that I took part in last week. This was my second pattern testing and was very fun to do. Best of all it was so fast to sew up, took under an hour with cutting fabric.

I had bought this cotton fabric from an Etsy shop earlier this year. I knew I was going to make pants out of them for my owl loving Lilli, just didn’t know what kind of pants. So when I found out that the test was pajamas, I realized this was the perfect pajama print. I only had a yard but for a lot of the younger kids, you need just 5/8ths of a yard. Now I have some left over to make her a skirt.

There are no side seams and no waistband pieces, which means only two pieces to cut and sew. The elastic is attached to the top and folded over to be covered. However, if you want to completely cover the elastic, there is a Walk the Plank Hacks that tells you how.

There aren’t any pockets, which would have been nice, but again, the Walk the Plank Hacks blog post shows you how to add front patch pockets as well as a back pocket. I might go back and add a small pocket to these, as Lilli has started looking for pockets in everything. Who can blame her? I want pockets in everything!

The PJs themselves, look so comfy, I think I’m going to make one for myself! And my husband has already asked for one too. So I see more of these in the near future.

I made only two changes to this pattern. One was adding 1″ to the height of the inseam, Lilli’s height is right in between the sizes of 18M and 2. The other was to add a dark pink trim to the inside of the hem so that it is just peeking out.

Pattern for Pirates is also having a site wide sale, so you can get some of their other patterns for less. Use the code HELLOFALL.
